Precision can reflect the processing effect of the workpiece, and is a professional team that evaluates the geometric parameters of the processed parts and measures the performance of CNC machining centers. What precision level should different machining processes achieve for CNC turning, milling, planing, grinding, drilling, and boring?
The accuracy of CNC machining is related to surface roughness. If the surface roughness is too large, it is difficult to accurately and accurately measure dimensions, and thus dimensional accuracy cannot be guaranteed.
1. CNC turning
CNC turning is a computer numerical control machining process in which the workpiece rotates and the turning tool moves in a straight or curved plane to produce internal and external cylindrical surfaces, end faces, conical surfaces, forming surfaces, and threads.
The surface roughness of general CNC turning is 1.6-0.8 μ M.
Rough turning: Using large cutting depth and large feed to improve efficiency without reducing cutting speed, with a surface roughness requirement of 20-10 μ M.
Semi precision turning and precision turning: using low cutting speed and high-speed feed, with a surface roughness requirement of 10-0.16 μ M.
Used for high-precision CNC lathes: precision grinding diamond turning tools can turn non-ferrous metal workpieces at high speed and precision, with a surface roughness of 0.04-0.01 μ m. Also known as "mirror turning".
2. Boring
Boring is an internal cutting technique that utilizes a boring tool to expand holes or other existing circular contours. The tool used is usually a single edge boring cutter (boring bar). Suitable for processing from semi rough to precision.
The accuracy of steel boring can reach 2.5-0.16 μ M.
Precision boring accuracy can reach 0.63-0.08 μ M.
3. Milling
CNC milling refers to the process of using rotating multi-point cutting tools on computer-controlled machine tools to process stationary workpieces, suitable for machining grooves, planes, gears, and special features.
The general surface roughness for milling is 6.3-1.6 μ M.
Rough milling accuracy: 20-5 μ M.
Semi precision milling: 10-2.5 μ M.
Fine milling: 6-0.63 μ M.
4. Grinding machine
Grinding is an abrasive machining process that uses grinding wheels to remove excess material from workpieces. It is widely used in the mechanical manufacturing industry and is usually used for semi precision and precision machining, which can achieve precision machining and precision cutting. It can control the movement of grinding around fixed workpieces.
The surface roughness of grinding is generally 1.25-0.16 μ M.
The surface roughness of precision grinding is 0.16-0.04 μ M.
The surface roughness of ultra precision grinding is 0.04-0.01 μ M.
The surface roughness of mirror grinding is less than 0.01 μ M.
