MRP in precision parts processing refers to a method of using electronic computers to prepare production operation plans. It is mainly suitable for processing and assembly enterprises that produce in batches, especially for production based on orders or unstable batch production.
In precision parts processing, this method is based on the principle of reverse process sequence method. Starting from the plan of the final product quantity and deadline, it unfolds according to the product structure, and then calculates the quantity and deadline of various components for input and production based on storage capacity and lead time. Its characteristic is that it prepares homework plans quickly and can adjust in a timely manner when situations change.
This method first appeared in the United States, and in the 1940s to 1960s, the production management model in the United States changed from a product centered production method to a component centered production method. Based on market demand and predictions, the components are produced in advance and stored in the warehouse. Once an order is accepted, the components are immediately assembled to quickly complete the order. This production method is flexible and adaptable, but there are also some problems, sometimes with too many parts and occupying too much working capital; Sometimes there are few parts (missing parts) that affect delivery. At that time, the demand for parts was mainly calculated manually, and due to the complex product structure, it was difficult to accurately reflect it. If the situation changed significantly, control became even more difficult. In the 1960s, when electronic computers were widely used in enterprises, the MRP method also emerged.
