Dongguan turning and milling composite machining refers to a multifunctional lathe that utilizes the combined motion of workpiece rotation and tool rotation to achieve cutting of the workpiece. One clamping can complete turning, milling, drilling, three-axis linkage processing, etc., hence it is also known as a "multi task CNC lathe". Due to its ability to complete most or even all machining projects in one setup, machining accuracy and production efficiency are greatly improved. Although the price is not cheap, it is also being accepted by more and more users.
How to choose the handle of such an expensive turning and milling machine? It must be a problem that many manufacturers are very concerned about. Everyone is very familiar with the tool handles of ordinary CNC lathes, but there are still many people who are not very familiar with the tool handles of turning and milling cutters. Firstly, let's learn about the classification of milling composite tool shanks for the first carriage.
1. Classification of turning and milling composite tool holders
According to processing methods, it can be divided into two categories: one is milling tool holders, and the other is turning tool holders and milling tool holders: this type is basically equivalent to ordinary machining centers. There are many types of tool handles, including ordinary tool handles, powerful tool handles, hydraulic tool handles, surface milling tool handles, and boring cutters, which are not unfamiliar to everyone. I won't repeat them here. Below, we will mainly introduce the cutting tool handle for the first carriage.
Turning tool holders have a characteristic that only the workpiece rotates, while the tool holder does not rotate.
According to the specifications of the lathe spindle cone handle, there are mainly three types: BBT (BIG-PLUS), CAPTO, and HSK-T.
1) BBT is a double-sided positioning connection system developed on the basis of the original 7:24 taper BT tool handle;
2) A double-sided positioning connection system with a 1:20 taper triangular cone structure for CAPTO; (The above two are very mature and widely used ways of connecting the tool handle to the spindle.)
3) HSK-T has been standardized in recent years, based on the HSK-A (1:10 taper) series, and has been improved to meet the requirements of turning and milling composite tool shanks. It was developed on the basis of the original HSK-A, and during Dongguan turning and milling composite processing, the width tolerance of the transmission keyway was more strictly controlled to improve the problem of tool tip height changes during turning. The HSK-A series tool handles can be used for milling processing.
2. Combined tool holder
The specific types of combined tool holders are divided into two types: inclined (45 °) and orthogonal (90 °).
1. Inclined type: The cutting force is mainly along the axis of the tool holder, and the torque of bearing B is small, which is more conducive to the lathe spindle. Due to a 45 ° inclination angle, it can reduce the overhang of the tool holder and easily avoid interference between the spindle and the lathe chuck. It is suitable for turning the end face and outer circle of shorter or larger diameter workpieces
2. Orthogonal type: It is a relatively universal type with a variety of left and right tool handles to choose from, and can also be used with ordinary turning tool bars and boring bars, suitable for most turning processing conditions. For the processing of long workpieces, it is also helpful to avoid interference with the lathe tailstock.
Through the above introduction, I believe everyone has a certain understanding of Dongguan turning and milling composite processing tool handles. When choosing a tool handle, I believe everyone also knows what type of tool handle to use for processing.
