Analysis of Structure, Materials, and Process for Machining Axis Parts
1. Function and structure of shaft parts processing
Shafts are used to support transmission components, transmit torque or motion. The shaft needs to withstand loads during operation to ensure a certain degree of rotational accuracy. The machining surfaces of shaft parts usually include inner and outer cylindrical surfaces, inner and outer conical surfaces, step planes and end planes, as well as threads, splines, keyways, and grooves.
2. Materials and blanks of shaft parts
The materials for shaft parts generally include carbon structural steel and alloy structural steel.
The blanks of shaft parts include round bars, forgings, and steel castings.
3. Analysis of processing technology for shaft parts
(1) The common axis is the radial design reference for each rotating surface. Axis with high precision requirements can use the center hole axis at both ends as the radial machining reference; For shafts and rough machining with low precision requirements, the outer circular surface can be used as the machining reference.
(2) Process in the order of rough turning, semi precision turning, and precision turning, and arrange grinding for shafts with high precision requirements.
(3) The processing of splines, keyways, and threads on the shaft is arranged after turning or before cutting; The shaft that needs to be quenched is threaded after surface quenching.
(4) When the blank of the shaft is a forging, normalization treatment should be arranged, and important shaft parts should undergo multiple heat treatments.
