Precision parts processing is not possible for all materials, and precision parts processing requires very strict material requirements. Materials for precision machining are divided into two categories: metallic materials and non-metallic materials.
For precision parts processing of metal materials, stainless steel has the highest hardness, followed by cast iron, followed by copper, and finally aluminum. The processing of ceramics, plastics, and other materials belongs to the processing of non-metallic materials.
Firstly, there are requirements for the hardness of the material. In some cases, the higher the hardness of the material, the better. However, it is limited to the hardness requirements of the machined parts. The processed material should not be too hard, and if it is even harder than the machined parts, it cannot be processed.
Secondly, the material should be moderately soft and hard, at least one grade lower than the hardness of the machine parts, and it also depends on the purpose of the processed components and the reasonable selection of materials for the machine parts. So, the most basic thing is to pay attention to the density of the material before processing.
