How the turntable indexer works
A turntable splitter, also known as a disc splitter or cam splitter, is a mechanical device used to convert continuous rotary motion into intermittent linear motion. It is mainly composed of the following parts: inlet shaft, cam, output shaft (turntable), roller and dowel pin.
Cam Indexer
The working principle of the turntable splitter is as follows:
1. The driving device (such as a motor) on the input shaft rotates the input shaft.
2. The cylindrical cam fixed on the input shaft rotates accordingly, and its outer surface has a specific contour curve.
3. The rollers fixed on the output shaft are lifted or lowered with the rotation of the cam profile.
4. When the roller is lifted to a certain position, due to the shape of the cam profile, the roller will be subjected to force, which will push the force shaft (turntable) to rotate.
5. When the roller is lowered, the output shaft (turntable) stops rotating and realizes an intermittent locking state.
6. By controlling the rotation speed of the input axis and the shape of the cam, the rotation angle of the output axis (turntable) can be precisely controlled to achieve accurate indexing.
7. The station or fixture on the output shaft (turntable) can load the workpiece to realize periodic loading, machining, unloading and other operations.
