In the processing of precision parts, due to the continuous progress of science and technology, products are constantly updated and replaced, and the production of small and medium-sized batches of parts is dominant. Therefore, shorter processing cycles and shorter tooling preparation cycles are often required. In order to improve production efficiency and solve the problem of short production and milling cycles for small and medium-sized batch parts, group technology can be applied.
As an advanced process method, the specific application of group technology in mechanical processing is called group processing technology, and its application in milling can be called group milling processing. It is a technology that categorizes different processed parts into groups based on their similarity in shape, size, material, and process requirements through a certain classification method. Based on the common process route of the same group of parts, process equipment is equipped with appropriate layout forms, and processing is organized according to the parts. The basic principle is to replace the batch size of a single part with the total batch size of a group of parts, thereby expanding the batch size and enabling small and medium-sized batches in precision parts processing to adopt advanced processes and manufacturing technologies for mass production. Group processing can be applied to a certain process or to all processing processes with a common process.
