MIIT: China will promote large-scale application of 5G, Industrial Internet and other facilities

On May 17, Zhang Yunming, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, said that China would promote the large-scale application of 5G, Industrial Internet and other facilities, and plan ahead for future industries such as 6G, quantum information and brain like intelligence.

As the product of the deep integration of industrial system and Internet system under the digital wave, Industrial Internet is the key support for a new round of industrial revolution. The integrated development of "5G+Industrial Internet" has also become the focus of the entire industry.

According to data from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, as of March this year, the total number of 5G base stations in China reached 2.646 million, accounting for 24.3% of the total number of mobile base stations. 5G applications have covered 52 major categories of the national economy, and the mobile Internet of Things has achieved large-scale applications in fields such as digital city construction, smart transportation, and mobile payment. At present, the scale of Industrial Internet core industry has exceeded 1.2 trillion yuan, up 15.5% over the previous year.

Facing the east wind of the policy, China's Industrial Internet has developed rapidly and steadily. In 2017, the State Council issued the Guiding Opinions on Deepening the "Internet plus Advanced Manufacturing Industry" and Developing Industrial Internet, and Industrial Internet officially became a national strategy. The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has also issued the Action Plan for the Development of Industrial Internet (2018-2020) and the Action Plan for the Innovative Development of Industrial Internet (2021-2023) in recent years to deploy the key work of Industrial Internet.

Industrial Internet has been mentioned many times in the "14th Five Year Plan", and clearly pointed out that it is necessary to build 5G based application scenarios and industrial ecology, actively and steadily develop Industrial Internet, build a number of world-class Industrial Internet platforms and Digital transformation promotion centers in key industries and regions, cultivate and form an internationally influential Industrial Internet platform, and promote the industrial ecology of "Industrial Internet+intelligent manufacturing".

Facing the future, with the continuous evolution of 5G standards, the continuous upgrading of 5G capabilities, the continuous improvement and perfection of the industry ecology, and the continuous deepening of its application in the field of Industrial Internet, "5G+Industrial Internet" will move from a benchmark enterprise to large-scale replication, bringing more possibilities for digital innovation of thousands of industries.
