According to reports, the Shanghai Robotics Industrial Park located in Baoshan District, Fanuc Super Intelligent Factory, has begun to take shape, and the system workshops in the production logistics area have been basically completed. Each building unit has entered the final stage, and industrial equipment has been gradually installed. It is expected to be completed and put into operation within the year.
It is understood that the Phase III project of Fanuc Intelligent Factory is a major construction project in Shanghai in 2020, and will be the largest robot base of Fanuc Group in the world after Japan. After completion, it is expected that the annual output value will reach 10 billion yuan. The project is divided into two phases of construction. Currently, the first phase of the project is being implemented, with an investment of 1.58 billion yuan. The completion acceptance will be completed in July this year, and it can be put into operation in October.
Fanuc Intelligent Factory not only has advanced manufacturing capabilities, but also provides global leading intelligent manufacturing solutions for downstream application enterprises. It also has functions such as employee education and training, intelligent manufacturing advanced equipment display, and sales. It is a high-end intelligent factory that integrates research and development, manufacturing, and sales. At that time, it will drive the development of industrial robots in Shanghai to a new level and accelerate the development of China's advanced manufacturing industry.
And it was only in December last year that ABB's robot super factory in Shanghai officially opened. The factory will be ABB's most advanced, automated, and flexible robot factory in the world - capable of manufacturing robots with robots. According to reports, the factory's annual production capacity can reach up to 100000 units.
Previously, ABB stated that over 90% of its products sold in China in the future will be produced in super factories, which will significantly enhance ABB's ability to supply industrial robots in China and further enhance its leading position in the field of robotics and automation. Now, the Fanuc Robot Base is also about to be put into operation, and the two factories have made up for the shortage of production capacity, which is bound to squeeze the market space for domestic industrial robots in the future.
Shanghai's Strong Robot Industry
In the development of the robot industry, Shanghai has always been at the forefront of the country. As early as 1987, multiple units such as Shanghai Instrument Factory and Shanghai Jiao Tong University jointly developed the "Shanghai No.1" welding robot, which is the earliest industrial robot in China.
After years of development, the robotics industry in Shanghai has continued to grow, including the four international industrial robotics giants ABB, Yaskawa Electric, FANUC, and KUKA, which have landed in Shanghai. Local robotics companies such as New Star, Jieka, and Xinsong have also taken advantage of this trend. In recent years, a number of excellent service robotics companies have emerged, such as Fourier Intelligence, which focuses on rehabilitation robots, and Qinglang Intelligence, which focuses on food delivery and distribution Gaoxian robots that focus on hygiene and cleaning robots.
Not long ago, Shanghai Municipal Economic and Information Commission and other nine departments released the Recommended Catalogue of Shanghai Intelligent Robot Benchmark Enterprises and Application Scenarios. The first batch includes 41 enterprise brands and 52 application scenarios, which are divided into seven typical scenarios: industrial intelligence, medical health, construction services, agricultural services, public services, household services, and special emergencies.
Next, the second and third batches of directories will be launched, and information channels will be established for robot enterprises to connect with user units. A batch of replicable development achievements will be promoted and applied, and work will be carried out around the directory to promote, encourage market integration, and support enterprise growth.
Data shows that in 2021, the production of industrial robots in Shanghai exceeded 70000 units, a year-on-year increase of 34%; In 2022, under the severe impact of the epidemic, the annual production of industrial robots in Shanghai is expected to reach over 75000 units, achieving a year-on-year growth of 6%, ranking first in domestic cities in terms of production.
At the same time, 2022 is also a year of explosive development in Shanghai's service robot industry, with many companies' products successfully landing in fields such as healthcare, construction, agriculture, commerce, household, and emergency response. According to data from Pudong Science and Technology Commission, the market size of service robots in China can reach 10 billion US dollars in 2024, with a large portion likely coming from companies in Shanghai.
The scale of robots in Shanghai will reach 100 billion by 2025
In recent years, in order to support the development of the robotics industry, the Shanghai government has issued a series of policies, including the Implementation Opinions on Accelerating the Development and Application of Robots to Promote Industrial Transformation, Improving Quality and Efficiency in Shanghai, the Implementation Opinions on Promoting the Development of New Generation Artificial Intelligence in this City, the Action Plan for Promoting High Quality Development of Intelligent Terminal Industry in Shanghai, and the 14th Five Year Plan for the Development of Shanghai's Digital Economy, Provide support to the Shanghai robotics industry in terms of technology research and development, application scenarios, business models, and financial services.
Not long ago, the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Information Technology stated that by 2025, Shanghai will strive to create 10 industry leading robot brands, 100 benchmark demonstration robot application scenarios, and a scale of 100 billion yuan in robot related industries.
Based on the above goals, Shanghai will take the lead in carrying out three key actions in the future, including industrial intelligence improvement action, service scenario expansion action, and cluster ecological optimization action, to support the innovative development of the robot industry.
Focusing on industrial intelligence improvement, Shanghai is comprehensively promoting the Digital transformation of manufacturing industry, implementing the pilot action plan for smart factories, and has built three national benchmark smart factories, 10 municipal benchmark smart factories, and 100 municipal smart factories.
It is reported that in the next three years, Shanghai will focus on six key industries such as automobiles and high-end equipment, promote the transformation of industrial enterprise intelligent manufacturing through "one industry, one policy" and "hierarchical classification". A total of 20 municipal benchmark intelligent factories and 200 municipal intelligent factories will be built, driving an increase of 20000 industrial robot applications and an increase of 100 industrial robots per 10000 people.
Carry out service scenario expansion actions. In the next three years, Shanghai will focus on key areas such as healthcare, construction, agriculture, commerce, household use, and emergency response, promoting the large-scale implementation and application of service robots.
